From worst to best, LaGuardia’s transformation delivers a world-class travel experience
The Port Authority has completed the transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a world-class gateway that reflects the energy, innovation, and diversity of New York. The $8 billion redevelopment—the first complete rebuild of a U.S. airport in over 25 years—has delivered new, state-of-the-art terminals, modern roadways, and improved airside operations. The project was completed in phases, with Terminal B earning recognition as the best new airport terminal in the world, and the Delta-led Terminal C setting a new standard for design, technology, and passenger experience. This historic transformation has replaced aging infrastructure with spacious, light-filled terminals featuring local concessions, inspiring public art, and upgraded amenities.
With 2/3 of the $8 billion cost of the airport financed by the Port Authority's two private partners, the new LaGuardia now stands as a model for airport redevelopment. The airport offers travelers a seamless, efficient, and distinctly New York experience from curb to gate.

Terminal B
LaGuardia Airport’s 1.3 million-square-foot Terminal B, which was opened in phases beginning in 2018 and completed in 2022, offers a modern travel experience that includes spacious interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, a new 3,000-car parking garage, new covered and convenient pickup facilities for both taxis and ride-sharing vehicles and dual skybridges above active taxiways. The terminal offers best-in-class retail, vast dining experiences, stunning art and amenities, and a water feature that is unique to any airport in the world. From curb to gate, customers enjoy a world-class 21st century travel experience.
Terminal C
In June 2022, Delta Air lines opened the new 1.3 million-square-foot Terminal C, which features 38 gates across four new or transformed concourses, world-class amenities, state-of-the-art technology and inspiring public art. At 1.3 million square feet, the new, state-of-the-art Terminal C is 85 percent larger than the two terminals it is replacing—consolidating access to 38 gates through a single 21st century arrivals and departures hall. Throughout the terminal, soaring floor-to-ceiling windows ensure it is filled with natural light by day. Delta’s Terminal C was completed in 2024.
Airport Access
Governor Kathy Hochul, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the MTA are advancing a $160 million investment to deliver faster, more frequent, and more reliable service on the free Q70 LaGuardia Link bus line. This project will strengthen transit connections between LaGuardia Airport, the subway in Jackson Heights, and both the Long Island Rail Road and subway in Woodside.
